A trip to Lightning Ridge to visit an old friend provided the perfect opportunity for a mini residency and spend time painting quickly en plein air before the flies, mosquitoes (yes they have them and they were huge) forced a hasty retreat back inside the car.

This piece was inspired by a recent trip to Lightning Ridge watching the rain scuds across the land, the red of the clay road now treacherous with the rain the colours of the land being washed clean of the dust of the day.
