DECRIPTION This work comes from a residency in Broken Hill in winter 2024. The landscape surrounding Broken Hill, while often thought of as stark and barren is full of colour, shapes, textures and tones. The light shimmers off the mineral rich soil and the rocks, creating a kaleidoscope of rich earthy tones. The vegetation bursts with blooms in the winter seasons as plants quickly come to seed and disperse before the summer heat and dryness overcome them. As a desert landscape overshadowed by mining which defines the town and those in it the Broken Hill landscape holds an abundance of natural beauty.
