An artist residency in 2024 to Broken Hill, NSW, provided an incredible opportunity to explore a desert landscape very different to my Tasmanian home.

The colours, textures, shapes and lines reminded me very much of my time in Central Australia.

The vegetation bursts with blooms in the winter seasons as plants quickly come to seed and disperse before the summer heat and dryness overcome them. As a desert landscape overshadowed by mining which defines the town and those in it the Broken Hill landscape holds an abundance of natural beauty.
